BP Has To Pay USD 3.1 Billion As It Failed In Russia
Dated: 03-08-2012
A stakeholder had logged complain against BP related to the damages what it had created in oil exploration in Russia. He avers that the projected coalition smashed TNK-BP’s interest because it lost out on profitable deal. Though, it has decided to confront the verdict.
TKN-BP is an alliance of two major oil companies AAR along with it. Here, AAR is owned by four Soviet oligarchs. AAR effectively barren the coalition a year ago, stating that it had fringed its stakeholder’s deals with TNK-BP that predetermined the firm was England’s prime medium for investments in Russia.
The English firm is now trying to confer the sale of its half of total shares in alliance to Rosneft. It has stated officially that they think the verdict as unjust. The decision would be confronted in the court of appeal. Moreover, the company has cleared that the claimant’s arguments are absolutely baseless and are not associated with the firm’s interest or stakeholders. The alliance has not come across any damages created from the agreement.
The coalition originally was not thought as a probable member in the Arctic projects by Rosneft. They think the allegation as a targeted commercial hit and suppose that the verdict would be taken back. On the other side, the lawyer of Mr. Prokhorov has asserted that his client is totally pleased with the decision. The ruling was not a shock one for public prosecutor Dmitry Chepurenko. BP’s stabbed stake exchange with the Rosneft last year was an ingredient of a striving plan of English firm to build up oil blocks in the Arctic. The Arctic agreement ultimately moved to ExxonMobil.
Summary – BP has been ordered to compensate for the damages over its JV with a Russian oil explorer company Rosneft. It has to pay 3.1 million USD to compensate the damages.
